Jeff Capel III (born February 12, 1975) is an American college basketball coach. He is currently the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh men's basketball team.
Playing Career: Capel played college basketball at Duke University from 1993 to 1997. He was a standout guard for the Blue Devils.
Early Coaching Career: He began his coaching career as an assistant at Duke under Mike Krzyzewski.
Head Coaching Roles: Capel has served as the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) from 2002 to 2006 and at the University of Oklahoma from 2006 to 2011.
Associate Head Coach at Duke: Prior to taking the Pitt job, he served as an associate head coach at Duke again under Krzyzewski from 2011 to 2018.
Pittsburgh Head Coach: Capel was named the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018. He is working to rebuild the program.
Family: His father, Jeff Capel II, was also a college basketball coach.
